Thinking about buying a horse? Here are some questions you should ask the seller before you buy.

1. Does the horse have any vices?

2. Has the horse even had any major illnesses?

3. Is the horse okay in heavy traffic?

4. Is the horse good to shoe?

5. Is the horse good to box, trailer and catch in the field?

6. Is the horse okay to tack up and groom?

7. Is the horse okay with being in the field with other horses?

8. Is the horse okay to hack out with others?

9.  What is the horse like in season? (This question only applies if the horse is a mare)

10. Is the horse good with the vet?

11. What is the horse like to ride?

12. Why is the horse on sale?

13. What is the horse's temperament?

14. Is the horse good to clip?

15. Has the horse won any competitions?

16. What is the horse's history?

17. Does the horse nap?

18. Can you open and shut gates on the horse?

19. What type of bit is the horse usually ridden in?

20. Is the horse prone to colic or lameness?

21. Has the horse had any major illnesses?

22. Does the horse have any allergies?

23. Is the horse water shy?

24. How is the horse when it is alone?

25. How old is the horse?

26. What sex is the horse

27. What is the horse's height?

28. What breed is the horse?

29. Is the horse okay with loud noises? (Traffic, dogs, children, ect.)

30. Has the horse ever been hunting before?

31. Is the horse a good first pony? (This question only applies if you have never owned or ridden a horse before.)

32. What type of environment is the horse living in at the moment?

33. What type of feed does the horse eat?

34. How much does the horse eat?

These are just a few of the questions you should be asking before you buy. Different answers are better for different people when it comes to buying horses and what I did is I made a list of the answers I preferred. I hope if you ever want to buy a horse that this post was useful.
