Mustangs descended from horses that were brought to the Americas by Spanish explorers in the 16th century which escaped into the wild. The number of mustang horses is booming thanks to a lack of natural predators. 

Lifespan in the wild:  Around 15-20 years

Habitat: Grassland and in western parts of the USA

Diet: Mostly leaves and grass
